Thaddaeus joined our Artist Collective in early 2019. Thaddeus Tekell grew up in Nashville. According to Thaddeus' mom, as soon as he could hold a crayon, he spent all of this time drawing. Thaddeus graduated from Overton high school in 1987, and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduating, he worked as an A/V tech in Chicago from 1991-1998, namely at the Shed Aquarium and the West Side Technical Institute. Diagnosed with schizophrenia in his late 20s, Thaddeus bounced back and forth between Nashville and Chicago until permanently returning to Nashville in the mid 2000's.
Thaddeus discovered early on that art helped him to deal with his mental issues and in efforts to both earn some additional income and be a part of a community doing good in Nashville, he joined the Poverty and the Arts artist collective in January 2019.
To this day, Thaddeus can still be found drawing with whatever medium is within reach.
